GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION OF THE 1ST INDIAN SISTERS ADORERS
On 29th May, 2010, Srs Teresa John Kailamangalathil, Elizabeth Dominic Rathapilly, and Alice Chandy Paleath, the first three Indian sisters of the Congregation of Sisters Adorers Handmaids of the Blessed Sacrament and of Charity, celebrated the Golden Jubilee of their Religious Profession, in the Church of Christ the King, Park Circus. Most Rev. Henry D’ Souza, Archbishop Emeritus, was the main celebrant of the Eucharistic Celebration, and many other priests, Brothers, Sisters, well wishers, and family members of our Jubilarians participated in this thanksgiving event.
Our sisters Elizabeth, Teresa, and Alice hail from Kerala, born in families that are deep rooted in Catholic faith and practice. Yes, God chose them to be His instruments for that task. Their vocation to be a missionary in those days was challenging and demanding. Yet nothing could deter them from their determination in following the Lord who exhorted them to take up their daily cross and follow Him. The three of them had their Novitiate Formation in Spain, the birth place of our Congregation. They being the 1st Indian sisters in our Congregation have given their very best for the formation and growth of the younger generations. During their 50 years of religious profession they had served the Congregation in various capacities. Sr Teresa being the best mathematician carried out her mission as an effective administrator for many years. Her selfless and dedicated service, faithfulness and loyalty in carrying out the responsibility assigned were exemplary and praiseworthy. Sr Elizabeth was an animator of Communities for many years in Orissa. Her prayer life and firm trust in the providence of God were her success in many fields. She had a special knack to deal with the children, the adults, and with people of every walk of life - a person with a lot of enthusiasm and energy, very much hard working, eco-friendly and a vocation-hunter. Sr Alice was Headmistress and teacher for many years in Puri – Orissa. She had also been formator and animator in our Communities - a very dedicated and committed person to discharge her duties with accuracy. Currently she renders her service to the Archdiocese of Kolkata as a coordinator of the Family commission. We are deeply indebted to them for what they are and what they have done for the Congregation especially for the growth and enhancement of the Indian Provinces.
St Maria Micaela, our Foundress, a passionate lover of the Holy Eucharist, continues to inflame the lives of her daughters. May she intercede for us in the days to come!
