NewsA NEW PROVINCE IS BORN

WITH THE STRENGTH OF THE EUCHARIST WE EXPAND OUR TENT AND STRENGTHEN THE COMMUNION. Celebrating Christmas, a new Province has been born, that of Dominican Republic-Brazil-Cuba. We, the sisters of the three countries, welcomed with illusion the new challenge: a Province formed by three countries! The General Government impelled the process of discernment, with the participation of all the sisters and in two stages: One first stage of exchanging correspondence, information, photo, visits, etc. After getting to know ourselves a little more, we initiated a stage of integration. The year 2009 had not yet ended and Sister Mª Elisa and the sisters of the three countries met in “foundational” Assembly in the city of Santo Domingo. Two sisters of Venezuela joined us, as they are incorporating themselves to this Province. It has been a very special moment; Sr Mª Elisa presided over and read out the Decree of canonical opening of the new Province that was welcomed by all the sisters with great joy. An important event for the whole Congregation! All this took place on the 1st of January, 2010, day on which we also concluded the bicentenary of the birth of Saint Maria Micaela. She accompanied us in all the works and “our luminous horizon” has been: “with the strength of the Eucharist, we expand out tent and strengthen the communion”. (VI Gen. Conf.
