The Museum of Santa María Micaela reopens its doors, this is how the reinauguration went

Today, Friday, May 12, 2023, the reinauguration of the Museum of St. Maria Micaela, Foundress of the Sisters Adorers, Handmaids of the Blessed Sacrament and Charity, was celebrated at the Motherhouse in Madrid, Spain.

The event was attended by the General Government of the Congregation of the Adorers and the Provincial of Spain-Africa, other sisters, as well as relatives of the Saint and people related to the house.

In addition, the entire Adorer Family was invited to participate in this reinauguration online, live from 7 p.m. (Spanish time), from the Youtube channel of the Congregation.

The program of the event began with the celebration of the Eucharist in the chapel of the Motherhouse. This was followed by the inauguration ceremony, with the participation of Sister Teresa Valenzuela, Superior General of the Congregation of the Adorers; Sister Elisa Altadill, curator of the exhibition and director of the remodeling of the Museum; Ms. Victoria Vergara, interior designer; and Her Excellency Ms. María José Solís-Beaumont, a descendant of St. Maria Micaela.

In her words, Sister Teresa expressed gratitude for “the gift” of St. Maria Micaela: “As daughters we will never be tired of thanking God for having given her to us as Mother and Foundress: in her and with her begins our history as a congregational family”.

For Sister Teresa, whoever visits the Museum, “will be able to connect with the history of Micaela and the beginnings of the Congregation and will also take away, if we are attentive, a life lesson to face today’s challenges. It is a wise invitation and a reminder: that great things have a small, fragile beginnings and the importance of keeping alive the link with our roots.”

Sister Elisa highlighted and thanked the work of all the people who collaborated in the remodeling of the Museum, restorers, artisans and the interior designer.

At the end of the ceremony, those present at the Motherhouse visited the Museum of St. Maria Micaela. For those who were following the event online, a video specially prepared for this reinauguration was projected and we share it below.

We invite all those who live or pass through Madrid to visit this remodeled Museum of St. Maria Micaela, to discover more clearly and beautifully who is our foundress, her spiritual and social legacy.
